First successful test of an ion propulsion drone

Florida: An American company has created a fanless ion propulsion drone that is completely silent and has flown for more than four minutes in its initial flight.

A company called In Defined Technology has named it the 'Silent Vents' drone whose flight mechanism is very interesting. It has two tiers of rows in which rows of electrodes are placed. A high voltage is applied to it. This current ionizes the oxygen and nitrogen molecules (molecules) present in the air and thus they are positively charged. When the positive charge flows down, a wind of ions is created and the drone rises.

Although ion propulsion has been used in spacecraft, it has not yet been used in drones. According to the company, its performance is 150 percent better than the best ion thruster system to date.

First, in 2020, an ion propulsion drone was flown for the first time for 25 seconds. Its biggest advantage is that the drone is very quiet and produces barely 90 decibels of noise, which is about as loud as a hair dryer.

The company has now flown the model drone for four and a half minutes with a sound of 75 decibels. In the next phase, his best model will be demonstrated in practice. This will pave the way for ion propulsion drones on a commercial scale.

Silent drones can also be used in secret projects and busy cities because drones will be commonplace today if not tomorrow and their noise will become a new problem for us.
