Russian fighter jet crashes into residential building; 13 killed and 19 injured

Moscow: A Russian military jet crashed in an urban area while taking off, killing 13 people, including 3 children.

According to the World News Agency, a fighter jet taking off for a training flight from the airport of the Southern Military District crashed in the parking lot of a building in the Russian town of Yesk, near the border of Ukraine, and a terrible fire broke out in the plane.

The flames immediately engulfed 5 floors of the 9-storey building and 7 flats were completely gutted. The fire spread so fast that the residents had no chance to escape. More than 600 people lived in this building.

During the rescue operations, the burnt bodies of 3 children were first found, on which only 3 deaths were claimed, but after a few hours, 10 more bodies were found in the rubble, thus the total number of deaths increased to 13.
